Course Description

The course is an introductory course in Agricultural Science and aims to familiarize students with basic concepts. In detail, the subject of the course is the historical development and the economic and social dimension of agriculture (structure of agriculture, food production, national and global politics), the branches of Agricultural Science and their field of study, natural resources and inputs of agricultural production, modern trends and prospects and finally the professional prospects of the Agricultural Engineer. A brief reference is also made to the methodology of Agricultural Science (bibliographic databases, libraries, laboratory-analytical techniques, research-experimentation, dissemination of new knowledge, information technology).
